As part of Cargill’s commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion, the Cargill University thrive Program was created to break down some of the barriers to success faced by many college students. By working alongside select university partners, the Cargill University thrive Program hopes to ensure more equitable access to careers in Agriculture, Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) for women and historically underserved students.

With a focus on universities and organizations serving these students, the Cargill University thrive Program provides financial support through scholarships as well as mentorship, development programming and career coaching to encourage long-term success. The end goal is to help participating students convert their education into meaningful careers.

The Cargill University thrive Program is currently being offered at select historically black colleges and universities (HBCUs), a Hispanic-serving institution (HSI) and through select National Minority Organizations (NMOs).

  • Historically black colleges and universities (HBCUs): Alcorn State University and Tuskegee University
  • Hispanic-serving institution: Texas A&M University
  • National Minority Organizations (NMOs): Minorities in Agriculture, Natural Resources and Related Sciences (MANRRS), Society of Hispanic Professionals and Engineers (SHPE), National Society of Black Engineers (NSBE) and the Thurgood Marshall College Fund (TMCF)

One of the most exciting aspects of graduating from college is navigating your career path. To help prepare for this transition, all scholars receive valuable growth and development opportunities.  

We help develop the skills needed to thrive.

Throughout their time in the Cargill University thrive Program, scholar's will have access to various development courses and opportunities designed to provide essential coaching in support of their personal and professional growth as they prepare to transition from college to career. Topics include personal brand, emotional intelligence, transitioning through change, building trust and more. This programming is one of the many ways the Cargill University thrive Program helps develop the skills students need to thrive in their future career.

With a commitment to empowering underserved students to achieve their goals, we’re building a diverse community.

With each year, the Cargill University thrive Program is building and expanding our network of current and former participants. As they progress through the program, scholars will find themselves among a network of diverse people from different backgrounds. Together, scholars will form the foundation of the next generation of groundbreakers and world changers.

Being a part of the Cargill thrive program has allowed me to be able to create a path for a career that I hoped to pursue in the future. I would say, prior to joing the program, I didn't really have a set idea of what I wanted to do and my options were kind of set down a singular path. A program with a purpose.

The Cargill University thrive Program was established to create development, leadership and scholarship opportunities in support of women and historically underserved students in the U.S. To be eligible for THRIVE, a student must meet the following eligibility requirements:

  • Right to work in the U.S. without a student visa or third-party sponsorship.
  • Actively enrolled in one of the partner organizations
  • Studying in a relevant major or discipline (which varies depending on the institution)
  • Remain in their approved major and maintain specific GPA/academic requirements
  • Able to participate in development activities in person
