Job location: Wolverhampton, UK (WV9 5EU)


The Engineering Supervisor will support the Engineering Management team by providing ‘front-line’ management of the on-shift Engineering department at the Wolverhampton site. The position holder will ensure the multi-skilled team deliver reactive, preventative and predictive maintenance as required, ensuring Health and Safety, quality and hygiene standards are met, ensuring a reliable operation.


The role works on a Shift basis, 4 on 4 off (12 hour day and 12 hour night shifts)


Key Accountabilities 

  • Coach and mentor the Engineering team and help to diagnose more complex problems with machinery 
  • Ensure work is conducted safely at all times and all legal standards are met and Engineers are trained to these 
  • Set maintenance priorities based on established plans, use the Maintenance Management System to ensure the Engineering team are utilized in the most efficient way possible 
  • Supervise maintenance activities to minimize production downtime and disruptions
  • Provide the engineering team with departmental Key Performance Indicators and detailed improvement plans 
  • Provide ‘front line’ operational management of Human Resources requirements including; working time management, shift allocation, performance reviews, absence/ disciplinary issues and recruitment and training
  • Help to motivate and empower other engineers, helping them reach their potential 

Qualifications

  • Relevant Engineering qualifications, Mechanically or Electrically biased to Bachelor’s Degree, or HND/ City & Guilds Level 
  • A formal Health and Safety Qualification (IOSH/ NEBOSH) 
  • Experience of hands on engineering in a Food, Drink / Consumer Goods manufacturing environment 
  • Able to motivate employees, communicate objectives clearly, provide feedback and suggest improvements for individuals performance and able to communicate to different levels of employees 
  • Experience of using a computerised maintenance management system for example Maximo
  • Manage conflicting priorities within tight deadlines  

Preferred Qualifications 

  • A formal Health and Safety Qualification (IOSH/ NEBOSH) 
  • Experience of supervision and coordination of small team of multi-skilled engineers
