JOB PURPOSE AND IMPACT
The Weather Analyst III will strategically and tactically provide weather related trading solutions to the broader analysis and trading teams using cutting edge technology and forecasting techniques. In this role, you will partner with internal teams and leaders to identify, prioritize and develop complex weather related solutions that can bring the most value to trading operations.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Execute best in class, complex weather analytics efforts and ensure that weather analytics message is heard and understood globally.
- Align regional weather forecasting efforts with global objectives.
- Drive towards speed, accuracy, and communication of confidence intervals for weather forecasts.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to develop, coordinate and execute continuous improvement initiatives related to weather.
- Mentor more junior weather analysts to contribute value for the trading team, showing connections between analyst team and business needs and demonstrating value of each analysis.
- Apply deep understanding and broad knowledge to provide thought leadership for new data, technology, tools and innovation and establish processes to efficiently capture potential weather signal generating data.
- Other duties as assigned
- Independently handle complex issues with minimal supervision, while escalating only the most complex issues to appropriate staff.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent experience
Proficiency using relevant scripting language, visualization and analysis software to build applications and chart pathway to break down weather data into usable forms
Proficient in working with and leveraging large data sets
Minimum of four years of related work experience
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Masters or Doctors Degree
Exposure to intricacies of weather versus commodity markets
Expertise in Python
