Job Purpose and Impact

The purpose of this role is to coordinate the procurement of bunkers for internal and external customers. This role will work closely with all Cargill Freight trading and vessel-operating desks to provide the spot/fwd market reading and the physical purchasing and execution of all bunker requirements. This role is also responsible for the consolidation of bunker suppliers and in the creation of a roster of preferred partners in Asia; moreover, it will build and maintain relationships with key suppliers. This role will actively participate in the development of PMF customers base with Business Development Lead.

Key Accountabilities

Execute on day-to-day bunker inquiries 

  • Work daily inquiries, cover suppliers, negotiate, book stems timely
  • Handle cancellations and amendments as needed. Ensure rigorous operations and smooth communication with internal and external customers
  • Provide a view on market trends, and supply availability
  • Manage claims professionally for positive commercial outcome
  • Actively follow and benchmark purchasing performance on price and quality of physical suppliers

Participate in Developing and managing PMF customers base

  • Participate in meeting with potential customers along with BD Lead as a subject matter expert
  • Manage assigned customer accounts and act as the main contact person for questions and inquiries globally / review the benchmark reports with the analyst and the BD in charge and arrange meetings/presentations on a regular basis

Aggregation of the bunker demand through collaboration

  • Develop strong and effective working relationships with all desks/internal customers
  • Maintain a constant dialogue with Freight trading and Vessel Operators and coach the on needs and requirements for optimal bunker procurement with the latter

Market Reading and analysis 

  • Oversee daily market analysis and reading
  • Liaise with the energy trading and analytical desk to review and exchange market information and views

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent experience

  • Minimum of two years of related work experience

  • Strong physical petroleum understanding, blending, operations, and supply chain risks

  • Customer focus and engagement skills - ability to represent Cargill and PMF internally and externally

  • Commercial expertise - appetite for and interest in commercial risk-taking and risk management

  • Resilient negotiation skills

  • Good problem-solving and decision-making ability

  • Analytical and numerate capabilities

  • Regional and Global market outlook

Preferred Qualifications

  • MBA or similar post-graduate qualification

  • Commercial shipping studies
