Job Purpose and Impact

The tropical vegetable oil refinery in Rotterdam Botlek is a “Most Complex Plant” (throughput: +/- 700.000 tons per year) consisting of 5 refinery lines, three fractionation units, six hydrogenation units, a blending section, a tank storage facility (+/- 170 tanks), four truck loading stations, one truck unloading station, a jetty to load and discharge sea vessels, coasters and barges and the necessary utility- and infrastructure.

The Process Engineer applies engineering techniques to improve manufacturing processes and products. In this role, you will provide technical support, operations experience, continuous improvement and project management skills in a plant support capacity that ensures safe, efficient and low-cost plant operations.

Key Accountabilities

  • Review and recommend manufacturing equipment and processes designed to be efficient, cost-effective, and promote quality and reliability.
  • Assesses current manufacturing equipment and processes and makes recommendations for changes.
  • Helps to fix and repair equipment. Shows results in reports.
  • Independently solve moderately complex issues with minimal supervision while escalating more difficult issues to appropriate staff.
  • Other duties as assigned


Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent experience
  • Minimum of 7 years of related work experience
  • Possesses working knowledge of engineering subject matter

Preferred Qualifications

  • Lean Certification
  • Six Sigma Green Belt Certification
  • Ideally experienced in the food production industry 
  • Participated in an engineering consultancy company
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Strong data analysis capabilities, including continuous improvement experience or certifications
  • Understanding of PI (data historian), ACAD (Auto CAD), MS Project
