Job Purpose and Impact

The Project Controls Specialist will provide technical support and specialist knowledge to initiate and execute project control practices on a build project. In this role, you will focus on moderately complex execution tracking, monitoring and evaluation activities for projects to minimize deviations from baseline plans as the project advances.

Key Accountabilities

  • Prepare project controls plan in accordance with project controls guidelines.
  • Implement integrated control accounts and configure the software and other tools to track the expenditures and manage the budget.
  • Contribute to final schedule development as a baseline for controls by setting up integrated control accounts and configure the software and other tools.
  • Track work progress and manage the scheduling tool to measure and track productivity for any applicable work packages or control accounts.
  • Calculate, report out and maintain the status of detailed project cost forecasts to include all phases of project execution from engineering, material and equipment procurement and deliveries and construction contracts from startup activities through closeout.
  • Partner collaboratively with the project team in exploring root causes for deviations, proposing solutions and initiating corrective actions.
  • Assist in analyzing project control requirements as part of the bid review process to ensure all cost control requirements are incorporated into individual contracts and purchase orders.
  • Independently solve moderately complex issues with minimal supervision, while escalating more complex issues to appropriate staff.
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent experience
  • Minimum of two years of related work experience
  • Other minimum qualifications may apply

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge and experience with leading safety methodologies
  • 5+ years MNC build project experiences in integrated Project Control role for build projects
  • Proficient with MS Office and scheduling tools, including MS Project, Primavera P6, etc.
  • Good knowledge of project control best practices (CPM, EVM, etc.), Certified PMP preferred
  • Fluent in English both written and spoken
  • Ability to travel up to 40% or temporarily relocate to a project site
  • Ability to prioritize personal work/goals and use time management skills to continuously improve work efficiency
  • Strong communication and influencing skills, and ability to work with other functions in a project to build understanding of the approach and value of Project Controls
  • Demonstrated ability to facilitate group discussions and meetings
  • Demonstrated ability to cope with conflict and develop solutions which all parties can support
  • Proven ability to partner effectively with all levels of the project organization in a team environment.
