Position Purpose & Summary:

A Senior Profession Role as Commodity Analyst role tasked with providing tradable insights based on fundamental Supply & Demand Analysis. The role is within a Corporate Function as part of Cargill’s Trading Data & Analytics group and works directly with Cargill Global Edible Oil Solutions (GEOS) and Cargill Agricultural Supply Chain Enterprises (CASC).

This role requires to translate commercial insights and internal research into comprehensive supply and demand analytics for India and South Asia (Bangladesh, Pakistan) vegetable oils markets. Manage all aspects of fundamental Supply and Demand balance sheets via in house systems “Macbeth” and the “Long Term Model”.

As a senior position, the role will require interaction with diverse teams, leadership in communication, and strong influence in trading ideation & decisions. As part of the global Trading Data Analytics team the role will interact with other regional analysts and our global analyst.

Principal Accountabilities:

50%:
  • Build and actively maintain best in class Fundamental Vegetable Oils Supply & Demand balance sheets for India, Bangladesh, Pakistan.
  • Focus on Supply, Demand and resulting Stocks Evolution & Price movement.
  • Communicate clearly via weekly meetings, Business Intelligence Dashboards & Ad-hoc emails.
  • Provide Timely & Actionable Trading Insights
  • Continuous Improvement of Market analysis, Price Analysis & Data Analysis.

20%:
  • Generate & Communicate Trade Ideas based on S&D analytics which support Trading Desk PnL.
15%:
  • Build a strong data process for maintaining large volume of information/data
  • Build/improve forecasting models for regional vegetable oils demand
  • Implement innovative ideas to efficiently translate a complex system into a simple/clear message
  • Build a comprehensive model to structure and transform Cargill’s internal activity data into tradeable insights
15%:
  • Actively participate in strategic studies around regional growth potential, Cargill’s LTM, and other key business initiatives

Required Qualifications:

• Degree in Economics, Ag Economics, Business, Finance, or related discipline.
• 5-7 years of experience in Analytics 
• Fundamental understanding of agriculture markets/systems and experience constructing models of economic/market behavior 
• Advanced Data modelling, statistical modeling skills: regression analysis, advanced correlation analysis, time series analysis
• Must have knowledge and intense curiosity about commodity markets, disruptive events, government interventions, and global affairs.
• Ability to actively partner/collaborate with global teams to build consensus around trading strategy.
• Very important is candidate must be able to translate complex topics into a short and clear message

Preferred Qualifications:

• Master’s degree in Economics, Ag Economics, Business, Finance, or related field
• Mastery of computing and statistics. 
• 5-7 years of experience in India Vegetable Oil Market analysis
