The Opportunity

We are looking for a qualified Maintenance Fitter to join our progressive maintenance teambased at the Footscray Plant, home of Cargill’s Crush and Refinery Operations. Here we process over 200,0000 tonnes a year of canola seed andrefine more than 100,000 tonnes per year of oil.  

Working onsite at this modern and automated refinery, you are one of 2 maintenance fitters that will trouble shoot and diagnose complex problems to keep the plant running efficiently and carry out maintenance tasks to ensure high levels of asset reliability for all plant related equipment to enable Cargill to deliver business outcomes.

Key Accountabilities

  • Perform plant and equipment repairs as directed from the maintenance register/work orders and maintain spare parts per the location program
  • Conduct preventative maintenance, lubrications and inspections, per the preventive maintenance schedule
  • Find and implement solutions that reduce the footprint of self/workgroup on the environment
  • Conduct daily boiler testing as assigned and schedule/participate in boiler repairs and inspections by outside companies

Working within a safety-first culture, the Maintenance Fitter will maintain an inclusive teamwork culture with their peers, contractors and other functional areas of the business

Skills and Experience

  • 2-5 years qualified Fitter experience with a background in either agriculture, food manufacturing, petrochemicals or Defence
  • Experience with trouble shooting and problem solving when working with industrial equipment, including pressing, flaking, pumps, and conveying equipment
  • A real passion for safety and an ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Current forklift license and external qualifications (desirable): Lifting & Rigging, Welding,

This role might suit someone who enjoys working in a small team and has a safety and continuous improvement mindset who has a true technical aptitude for solving and fixing mechanical issues.

You will work the day shift of 7am-3.30pm Monday-Friday but would need flexibility to work the odd hours of overtime and weekends.
