Job Purpose and Impact

As a Merchant, you will be paired with one of our Commercial Productline Managers to learn and understand all aspects of the business. You will gain a deep understanding of the cocoa market, practice merchandising skills and learn to manage the complexities of our asset network. The goal is to develop your commercial and managerial skills at a high pace through learning on the job. 
Merchants work independently on moderately complex capacity & revenue management questions that meet production requirements and specifications in terms of timing, volume, quantity and cost. In this role, you will work on a variety of commercial topics like capacity management, merchandising, trading and risk management.

Key Accountabilities

  • Collaborate with transportation and logistics, quality assurance and customer sales to ensure efficient execution.
  • Confident to execute the day to day commercial activities with minimal supervision, willingness to take accountability. 
  • Analyze data and advise on commercial decisions basis your analysis. 
  • Research and analyze various production opportunities to maximize margin.
  • Work directly with sales managers and other business counterparts to meet their needs in solving problems and addressing complaints and concerns.
  • Independently solve moderately complex issues with minimal supervision, while escalating more complex issues to appropriate staff.
  • Other duties as assigned


Minimum Qualifications

  • University degree 
  • Minimum of two years of work experience
  • Comfortable with mental arithmetics
  • Other minimum qualifications may apply

Preferred Qualifications

  • Challenge taker willing to take ownership and be accountable for own’s decisions
  • Creative, self-motivated, confident & eager to learn, with good listening skills 
  • Able to build & leverage relationships with various stakeholders, with convincing and influencing skills
  • Able to digest information from a variety of formal and informal sources, and piece them into a coherent story
  • Strong analytical skills and High attention to detail
  • Able to read between the lines, connecting the dots on informal pieces of information, and to deal with ambiguity
  • Comfortable with building and maintaining complex models on MS Excel
