This position is in Cargill’s food and bioindustrial business, where manufacturers, retailers, and foodservice companies rely on us to consistently deliver the products and services they need, and use our technical expertise and market knowledge to develop innovative products.
Job Purpose and Impact
As a Product & Process Innovation Manager, you will play a key role in developing new and existing products by leading pilot plant operations and prototype production. You will ensure all activities comply with food safety, environmental, and occupational health standards. This role is a critical part of the R&D team, with hands-on responsibility for pilot-scale trials and formulation development.
Key Accountabilities
- Manage daily operations of the pilot plant, including equipment and utilities.
- Lead application work in the lab or pilot plant for development projects and customer requests.
- Analyze and validate lab results on raw materials and prototypes.
- Host and coordinate customer visits to the pilot plant in line with company procedures.
- Develop formulations, recipes, and processes based on customer needs and regional regulations.
- Support customer production trials and provide on-site technical assistance when needed.
- Evaluate and report outcomes of lab and pilot plant trials.
- Identify and approve new ingredients and suppliers; manage inventory and procurement of raw materials and packaging.
- Troubleshoot product issues and share findings with product development teams.
- Monitor scientific literature and technical data related to product applications.
- Solve moderately complex problems independently and escalate more complex issues when necessary.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field or equivalent experience.
- Strong knowledge of ingredient functionality and its impact on sensory and product performance.
- Experience in experimental design, data analysis, and data management.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in dairy R&D.
- Fluent in English.
Preferred Qualifications
- Degree in Food Science or Food Engineering.
- Proficiency in computer applications and data tools.
- Strong cross-functional collaboration and customer orientation.
- Experience in dairy formulation and recipe development.
- Leading technology development and transfer from lab to pilot to commercial scale.
- Driving safety initiatives and ensuring compliance during piloting, tolling, and commercial startup phases.
