Job Purpose and Impact
We are seeking an intermediate-level AVEVA PI Engineer with 3–4 years of hands‑on experience to support, maintain, and enhance our PI System environment.
The role focuses on PI Data Archive operations, PI Interfaces/Connectors, PI Vision support, and basic to moderate PI AF configuration (templates, attributes, simple analytics).
The ideal candidate will help ensure reliable operational data, support cross‑functional teams with PI data access, assist in developing AF models, and contribute to system improvements and digital initiatives across Operations, Automation, IT/OT, and Data Engineering functions.
Key Accountabilities
PI System Support & Operations
- Support day‑to‑day administration of PI Data Archive, AF Server, and Interfaces/Connectors.
- Manage PI tag creation, point configuration, compression settings, and archive maintenance.
- Troubleshoot data flow issues from PLC/SCADA/DCS systems into PI.
- Conduct routine system health checks and implement corrective actions.
PI AF Development (Basic to Intermediate)
- Build and maintain AF elements, attributes, templates, and hierarchies.
- Configure PI Point mappings, table lookups (basic), and simple AF Analytics expressions.
- Assist with basic Event Frames configurations when required.
- Support enhancements to existing AF models and help standardize structures across use cases.
Data Integrations & Visualization Support
- Support data consumption via Power BI, PI Vision, PI Web API, SQL, or reporting tools.
- Assist visualization/reporting teams in using AF‑based datasets.
- Help troubleshoot PI Vision displays and support ProcessBook-to-Vision migration efforts.
Data Quality & Troubleshooting
- Investigate bad/missing data, interface failures, and timestamp issues.
- Coordinate with Automation, Controls, and OT teams to restore reliable data flow.
- Maintain documentation for PI tags, interfaces, and AF structures.
Upgrades, Maintenance & Compliance
- Assist in PI System upgrades, patching, backup processes, and interface updates.
- Support OT cybersecurity compliance, user access reviews, and governance guidelines.
- Participate in system testing and validation during project rollouts.
Collaboration & Stakeholder Support
- Work closely with Operations, Maintenance, IT/OT, and Data Engineering teams.
- Provide user support for PI Vision screens and data-related queries.
- Communicate issues clearly and ensure timely resolution with cross-functional teams.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.
- 3–4 years of hands‑on experience with:
- AVEVA/OSIsoft PI Data Archive
- PI Interfaces/Connectors (OPC, Modbus, UFL preferred)
- PI Vision (or prior ProcessBook experience)
- Basic to intermediate PI AF modeling and analytics
Technical Skills
- Good understanding of PI tags, data types, compression, scan classes, and interface setup.
- Ability to build AF templates, attributes, and basic calculations.
- Exposure to scripting/automation using PowerShell, Python, or SQL.
- Fundamental understanding of industrial automation protocols (OPC, DCS, PLC, SCADA).
Certifications (Preferred)
- AVEVA PI System Infrastructure Specialist (nice‑to‑have)
- PI AF Specialist (plus)
Domain Expertise (Preferred)
- Manufacturing, Pharma, Power, Oil & Gas, Chemicals, Utilities.
- Familiarity with equipment like pumps, compressors, heat exchangers, reactors, or utility systems.
