Job Purpose and Impact

The Soybean Meal Team Lead will work within the US Soybean Processing Merchandising team to manage the cash soybean meal trading position tied to a group of crush plants in Cargill Agriculture Supply Chain North America (CASC NA) to maximize trading revenues, optimize logistics and create a positive customer experience. In this role you will drive regional game plans on soybean crush, freight and oilseeds (if applicable) utilizing appropriate regional and CASC NA Product line resources. You will be accountable for the execution and resulting P&L. This role will work with Product Line and Commercial Leaders on ongoing business strategy and projects and will be responsible for strengthening critical customer relationships. In this role you will be expected to lead regional initiatives and development of merchandising talent. 

Key Accountabilities

  • Direct communication and interaction with the Soy Crush merchandising team to establishing game plans, meal offers, margin structure and objectives; work closely with the CASC NA product line desks, external customers, and regional merchandising team to ensure efficient execution.
  • Collaborate and align functional areas including all product line merchandising teams, origination, operations, logistics, and finance to maximize asset utilization and earnings within the region.
  • Provide direction and oversite around strategy and business plan development and deployment while bringing forth business growth and trading opportunities based on their assessment of market/business climate.
  • Lead and develop a team of direct reports, coaching and making decisions related to talent management hiring, performance, and disciplinary actions. 
  • Develop plans and deliver results in a fast-changing business or regulatory environment, while leading and developing a team of experienced professionals and supervisors, coaching, and making decisions related to talent management hiring, performance, and disciplinary actions. You will also collaborate with managers and supervisors in your organization to ensure staff selections align with current and future needs.
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent experience
  • Minimum of six years of related work experience
  • Ability to travel up to 20% 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Demonstrated agricultural merchandising skills and understanding of industry transaction principles.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage margins.
  • Demonstrated ability to build customer relationships.
  • Knowledge of risk management principles.
  • Demonstrated high execution capacity
  • Demonstrated knowledge of truck and rail logistics.
  • Knowledge of risk management principles.
  • Demonstrated high levels of organization, written and verbal communication, and documentation skills.
  • Proven ability to effectively apply change management leadership.
  • Demonstrated flexibility to adapt to changing conditions in the business.
  • Proven strategic thinking, decision making and problem-solving skills.
