What are the factors that attracted you to join Cargill over other competitors?
The culture and values that the company upholds: putting people first and how it talks about safety, personal and career developments of individuals, among others; doing the right thing, which is anchored on integrity and guiding principles; and reaching higher, which unlocks everyone’s potential to thrive.
What two to three words are top of mind in describing the Cargill culture today?
Safety, Integrity, Customer-Driven.
What does “thrive” mean to you? What does it mean to thrive at work?
Thrive for me is becoming the best of myself. It means growth in all facets of my life – mental, physical, social, and spiritual. Thrive at work means being able to contribute significantly to the goals of the organization and, at the same time, develop myself in the process. You grow as a leader and as a person.
How has the size and scope of Cargill, the fact that it’s a global company, benefited you?
I am able to leverage the connections I’ve made in this large global company. I get to meet different people across the globe and learn from them. I get to know about different cultures and be amazed by the fact that even with such a diverse and inclusive organization, we are all united by Cargill values and culture.
What Cargill innovations make you the most excited for the future?
With customer intimacy and digitalization as our differentiators, there’s still so much that we can do to help our customers achieve growth and success.
Have you found a strong culture of trust and support at Cargill?
Yes! I will not be here for 20 years if I didn’t see and experience trust and support at Cargill.
How does Cargill empower you to take risks? What are some ways the company helps you push the boundaries of your career?
For me, it’s giving me different roles and responsibilities in the organization as these helped enhance my strengths and developed my growth areas. With these various project assignments, I was presented a challenge to prove what else I know and can do more of.
What are some examples you’ve seen of Cargill valuing unique perspectives?
When we hire females in male-dominated fields and positions; when we hire people based on competency, experiences and behavior instead of gender, age, religion or color.
What is the one thing you’d most like Cargill to be known for as an employer?
A company that puts people FIRST - not the brand, nor rank or profit but the people. Cargill safeguards the people’s well-being and safety and respects their differences.
Is there anything else you would like to add?
In all my years at Cargill, I have been assigned mostly in roles and departments that are perceived to be male-dominated. But my gender didn’t stop me to be where I am now. I am valued because of who I am, my unique talents and skills, my hard work, passion, dedication, and behavior. I find it very exciting now that I am in Sales and Commercial. I have direct and hands-on access to our customers, make them successful and help them thrive. I also get the chance to be out in the field most of the time and making a meaningful contribution to the local community and the Cargill purpose of nourishing the world in a safe, responsible, and sustainable way.
