This position is in Cargill’s protein and salt business, where we provide wholesome, high-quality food products to a wide range of customers, from foodservice operators and grocery stores to manufacturers and exporters.
Job Purpose and Impact
The Nurse Case Manager Workers Compensation will serve as a professional health resource to protect, maintain and improve the health status of the injured worker. In this role you will be responsible for assessing, planning, implementing, coordinating, monitoring and evaluating the options and services available to meet an employee’s health needs through communication and accessible resources to promote quality, cost-effective outcomes within the Worker’s Compensation Board of Alberta.
Key Accountabilities
- Develop, implement and evaluate injured worker treatment plans.
- Serve as a liaison between health professionals, management personnel, healthcare providers and the injured worker.
- Prepares and conducts appeals at all levels of the WCB (Workers Compensation Board) appeals process for claim decisions that do not align with policy and legislation based on the information available on the claim file or new information that has been received.
- Participate in the ITF (Industry Task Force) Association and related Industry Meetings to provide quality representation on matters involving the workers’ compensation system to various levels of government, the Workers’ Compensation Board and partner agencies.
- Develops Claim Management Action Plans for all claims identified to be high risk
- Collaborate across the occupational health team in leading restrictive duty and lost time programs.
- Provide government required record keeping and medical record maintenance.
- Analyze results, monitor expenses and implement cost saving actions to improve financial outcomes.
- Independently solve moderately complex issues with minimal supervision, while escalating more complex issues to appropriate staff.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Nursing
- Current active Registered Nurse in good standing with CRNA
- Knowledge of Alberta Workers’ Compensation Board regulations, policies and procedures
- Proficient in Microsoft Office
- Confirmed leadership and conflict resolution skills
- Minimum of two years of related work experience
- Must be legally entitled to work for Cargill in Canada
Preferred Qualifications
- Certification in nursing case management
- Background in occupational health nursing
