This position is in Cargill’s food and bioindustrial business, where manufacturers, retailers, and foodservice companies rely on us to consistently deliver the products and services they need, and use our technical expertise and market knowledge to develop innovative products.
Job Purpose and Impact
The Quality Control Specialist is responsible for managing quality control processes in the in-house laboratory. The primary focus is to ensure product safety and quality in compliance with internal standards, national regulations, and customer and industry requirements. Additionally, you will support the leadership team with projects, audits, regulatory visits, and customer inquiries or complaints.
Key Accountabilities
- Ensure compliance with Good Laboratory Practice (GLP) standards and maintain reliable systems and controls to guarantee product safety, regulatory compliance and product quality.
- Oversee accurate data entry in the Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) and ensure compliance with Food Safety, Quality & Regulatory (FSQR) and Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) requirements.
- Manage procurement of laboratory consumables and services by processing all lab-related purchasing requests.
- Coordinate preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and calibration of laboratory equipment.
- Organize and evaluate internal and external quality control tests (e.g., proficiency testing).
- Train and onboard new team members.
- Independently support and lead projects.
- Assist with audits, incident management, and customer complaints.
- Support the HACCP team and act as a deputy for the Food Safety Quality and Regulatory Coordinators.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
- Completed Bachelor's degree (e.g., in Chemistry, Food Chemistry, Biotechnology, or Biochemistry) or equivalent professional experience
- Strong analytical skills with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail
- Solid knowledge of analytical methods, instruments, and calibration procedures
- Basic understanding of GLP
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and related software
- Fluent in German and English
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with SAP (or similar systems)
- Experience working in an analytical laboratory
- Familiarity with ISO/IEC 17025 and ISO 9001 standards
