Job Purpose and Impact

The Swine Nutritionist will provide technical advice and support to customers about the best nutritional solution and technology, by partnering with local commercial and technical teams. You will enable the business to enhance its commercial growth agenda by bringing world-class technology to an exclusive set of customers to achieve significant growth. You will serve as the first point of contact for Swine nutrition expertise within the Canadian commercial pork team.

Preferred location is Quebec or Southwest Ontario, but negotiable.

Key Accountabilities

  • Participate and contribute to key technical discussions on nutrient specifications, nutrition program development, and research or innovation needs.
  • First point of contact for nutrition expertise within the Canadian commercial pork team.
  • Launch new products / services and set innovation priorities for the Canadian pork team.
  • Partner with account managers to identify customer needs, determine fits for Cargill offerings and serve as a trusted advisor to customers.
  • Work directly with customers on nutrition consulting (diet strategy, nutrient analysis, ingredient supplier selection, research, and economic modeling) and provide technical support to Cargill products and services.
  • Optimize nutritional requests, crafting the best offer from a nutritional and commercial perspective.
  • Independently handle complex issues with minimal supervision, while escalating only the most complex issues to appropriate staff.
  • Other duties as assigned


Minimum Qualifications

  • PhD or DVM in a related field
  • Minimum of 4 years’ experience in commercial swine nutrition or related field.
  • Swine nutrition knowledge and proficient use of formulation tools and concepts
  • Commercial swine production experience
  • Ability to travel up to 40%
  • Must be legally entitled to work for Cargill in Canada.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Established relationships with Canadian swine producers
  • Passion for understanding, creating, and communicating value and solutions to team members and customers
  • Ability to communicate the science to both technical and non-technical audiences
  • Ability to design and execute field research under commercial conditions
  • Knowledge of nutritional models
  • Experience with on-farm troubleshooting management techniques
