Internships at Cargill:

Engineer Co-op:

Provide engineering students interested in production management an opportunity to apply knowledge gained in the classroom to a plant processing business environment. Opportunities exist across Canada within our diverse businesses: current opportunity in our Cargill Agricultural Supply Chain business.

Principal Accountabilities:

As an Engineering Co-op Student, you will collaborate with the Manager of Engineering and will be responsible for engineering and operations projects required to support approximately 70 grain and fertilizer service centers across Canada. Tasks will include projects drawn from the accountabilities of the Capital Effectiveness, Reliability Excellence, Operational Effectiveness and Risk Management teams. 

35% Technical Lead - Assist in Project and Safety Management of construction projects. Includes design reviews, site visits and contractor/ site liaisons 

35% Project Administration - Manage project approval database and monitor project spending. Includes generating fund requests, issuing purchase/work orders, and strategic planning for capital spend plan. 

20% Project Support - Assist our Project Managers in the execution of their projects. Includes drawings recovery and review, record management, and review of specifications. 

10% Participate in the development of reliability & maintenance prevention programs. 

Internship Programming:

  • Cargill offers both housing assistance and relocation reimbursement to co-ops who qualify (based on mileage)
  • Co-ops are paid and are a minimum of 16 weeks in duration
  • Day–to-day transportation to and from work is the responsibility of the intern
  • Co-ops who demonstrate exceptional performance and a curiosity to learn more may be offered a full-time position for the following year

Job Locations:

Winnipeg, MB

Required Qualifications:

  • Pursuing a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited engineering program graduating between December 2023 and May 2025. 
  • Completion of 3rd year engineering course 

  • Able to be away on travel 1-3 day increments, as the need arises 

  • Able to complete essential functions of this job as outlined in the job description with reasonable accommodations 

  • Must be legally entitled to work for Cargill in Canada  

  • A valid Canadian driver's license and clean driving record 

  • Proven ability to work effectively with individuals from a diverse group of backgrounds and cultures  

  • Able to complete a 16-month co-op summer (May 2022 – August 2023) 

  • Must possess a high degree of initiative and resourcefulness in completing work with limited mentorship 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Enrolled in a Mechanical Engineering program 

  • Overall 3.0 GPA or higher
