Job Purpose and Impact

The Product and Process Development Supervisor, Alternative Protein will provide technical contributions to the development of meat analog innovation and actively lead the  identification and execution of new product and process development for meat analogs. In this role, you will provide leadership to a team of diverse scientists and engineers to execute innovation goals and ensure technical excellence. You’ll partner with the global team lead to advise on the strategy and prioritization of a portfolio of future innovation projects and drive research and development decisions for process improvements and goals supporting business objectives.

Key Accountabilities

  • Apply scientific knowledge to contribute to research programs that generate and evaluate new ideas for product and process development to effectively support the creation of future customer solutions.
  • Ensure alignment of strategic research plans and priorities across research teams and the business to create consistencies and efficiencies.
  • Implement innovation roadmap market plan(s) aligned to the business strategy, including short and long-term testing programs for experimental and commercial products and hybrids.
  • Serve as an operational and tactical enabler to develop processes and control mechanisms to ensure compliance with intellectual property laws, regulations and company policies.
  • Provide technical leadership in product and process development to establish procedures and tools.
  • Champion and coordinate scientific innovation growth initiatives across the organization by collaborating with internal and  external partners to identify emerging trends to meet strategic objectives and potential opportunities.
  • Lead and develop a team, coach and make decisions related to talent management, hiring, performance, and disciplinary actions.
  • Other duties as assigned.

This Position can be located in either Plymouth, MN or Witicha, KS at a Cargill Food Innovation Center

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent experience
  • Minimum of four years of related work experience in a combination of the following areas: meat analog product and process development, ingredient functionality and product commercialization
  • Ability to travel up to 30%

Preferred Qualifications

  • Masters or PhD degree
  • Two or more years of supervisory experience
  • Experience in meat processing
  • Experience partnering with customers, vendors and other external partners
  • Extrusion experience
  • Tech-savvy and comfortable with evolving business-critical technology
