Job Purpose and Impact

The Trading Data and Analytics team is focused on bringing innovation, global integration, and cross-organization collaboration to Cargill’s trading data and analytics landscape. The team seeks to tap into the potential of Cargill’s vast data supply, applying new models and globally-integrated perspectives to generate strategic insights that will promote Cargill's competitive position and ultimately grow trading earnings.
Our ability to create analytical models and trading insights depends on the integrity and quality of data we have available. As the Data Engineer in the TDA Engine Room you will be responsible for design, build and operations of high performance of data centric solutions utilizing the comprehensive big data capabilities of Cargill’s data platform environment. In this role, you will be a steward of data integrity and a skilled practitioner with SQL (Oracle, SQL Server, Impala, etc) and modern Data Lakes. This will include designing data structures and pipelines to capture or collect data, and also designing and implementing data transformations, combinations or aggregations. You will act as a subject matter expert for data access pathways and techniques working with Analysts in the TDA Show Room. You may assist with the design and implementation of APIs, or write data ingest routines for models or visualisations.

Key Accountabilities

  • Collaborate with businesses and other stakeholders to participate in product or solution designs.
  • Develop robust, scalable and sustainable data products or solutions utilizing cloud based technologies.
  • Provide moderately complex technical support through all phases of product or solution life cycle.
  • Perform data analysis, handle data modeling and configure and develop data pipelines to move and optimize data assets.
  • Build moderately complex prototypes to test new concepts and provide ideas on reusable frameworks, components and data products or solutions and help promote adoption of new technologies.
  • You will work under general supervision and independently solve moderately complex issues while referring more complex problems to a higher-level staff.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent experience
  • Minimum of two years of related work experience

Minimum Qualifications

  • 6+ years of IT and business/industry work experience developing data or software applications including: analysis, design, coding, testing, deploying and supporting of data-centric applications and pipelines.
