Job Purpose and Impact

The Sourcing Manager- Logistics role is a position created in conjunction with BOSC(Business Operation and Supply Chain) to create greater alignment on sourcing and future operation activities. This role is responsible for the transportation & logistics sourcing performance of predominately but not fully exclusive. The purpose of this role is to provide clear connection and joint accountability between the businesses and the CTL function and will serve as the point of contact representing both the business commercial and supply chain as well as the Function’s requirements.

This position will report directly to the Greater China Country Leader.

Key Accountabilities

  • Development and implementation of transportation & logistics long term vision and strategic for BU, including long-range objectives, policies and strategy; Drive low cost to serve for Cargill- different mode in CTL(apply a meaningful understanding of transportation and logistics practices and procedures to assist in negotiating freight prices and contract terms for customers)
  • Support the CTL Greater China strategy with respect to carrier management (e.g. carrier selection, contract negotiations, relationship management); Collaborate with stakeholders to facilitate and monitor utilization of strategic supplier contracts and actively participate in the carrier negotiation process
  • Support carrier contracting efforts via eSourcing tool: RFI’s, RFP’s and scenario development. Apply industry knowledge to perform bid analysis, post-negotiation awards and oversee carrier onboarding process.(Update transportation websites and databases for contracts, freight rates and estimates, insurance information, customer information, etc.)
  • Leverage CTL strategic priorities, including mode, regional, CTL operations, business/strategy development; Link Business to CTL and shared services execution and improvement opportunities

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent experience
  • Minimum of 4 years of related work experience
  • Other minimum qualifications may apply

  • Effective negotiation experience
  • Ability to multi-task in a fast paced environment
  • Demonstrated cost management, operating efficiency and expense management skills
  • Able to effectively collaborate with diverse set of people
  • Ability to effectively build credibility and trust with businesses and key leaders
  • Demonstrated ability to lead the development and execution of a strategy in a complex environment with
  • Multiple stakeholders and interests
  • Proven ability to lead and manage truck operations service performance across multiple businesses

Long Description

  • Demonstrated ability to develop and leverage strong partnerships with vendors, customers, carriers and BU clients for problem solving and high performance
  • Team player; able to act and think beyond self/BU on behalf of CTL organization and Cargill
  • Understanding of truck and container transportation market (fast-paced, dynamic) and translate into short- and long-term business opportunities; commercial acumen
  • Strong Supply Chain background in manufacturing, trading etc.

Long Description

  • Experience on Logistics operation/sourcing on Rail, Barge, Warehousing, Trucking etc.
  • Sourcing in multi-model transportation strategy and execution
  • Experience leveraging relevant technology such as SAP SD module,TMS, GPS track & track etc.
  • Knowledge of vendor management, 3PL management and market intelligence.
  • Experience leveraging the functionality of a Transportation Management System (TMS)
