Job Purpose and Impact

The set- up of the role is to support company’ 2025 strategy in digitalization field. Within business capture new opportunity in digital area, especially in fast-moving highly digitalized market like China, the digital lawyer will handle and manage all digital, IT, E-commerce, cybersecurity and privacy related issues in China/APAC. The digital lawyer is also expected to partner closely with Global IP and Global Privacy team to ensure proper deployment and implementation of global policy/process with local adaption when necessary.

Key Accountabilities

  • To work closely with stakeholders including business BRM, IT on business initiatives of digital related projects including local solutions & local portals enablement, sales channel and agile business model digitalization, local digital eco-system integration etc., provide legal advice, risk assessment and work on practical solutions to support the growth opportunity;
  • To provide legal advice and risk assessment on data privacy, data protection, data usage, cybersecurity issues which bring impact to the business growth in local market; review/draft documents related to data privacy, data usage etc;
  • To work with Global Privacy office and develop data privacy compliance program in local market and develop tools for implementation;  
  • To work with BU on e-commerce projects and leverage learning and experience of different business to develop legal playbook on company’ e-commerce strategy and position with appropriate legal analysis and advice on e-commerce model design and operation;
  • To close monitor any relevant regulation evolvement and share with relevant stakeholders to bring awareness and alert in different levels;
  • To work with Global IP team as a point of contact for IP related issues including trademark, IP protection and develop local strategy;
  • To act as COE of digital area in AP Law team; train APAC/local commercial lawyers on digital/cybersecurity law to bring awareness and equip commercial lawyer for future trend and transactions when necessary;

Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Professional:

  • Law degree from a reputable university; PRC Bar Qualification
  • At least 8+ years relevant working experience from reputable law firms and/or in-house experience in technology firm/FMCG with experience in privacy and cybersecurity field

Soft skills:

  • Strong communication skills and feel comfortable working in a matrix environment;
  • A strong team player who works closely with commercial law team; good collaboration spirit;
  • Open minded, strong learning agility;
