Location

Remote working with travel to Cargill sites in Wolverhampton (West Midlands), Dalton (North Yorkshire), Bathgate (Scotland) and Naas (Republic of Ireland).

Job Purpose and Impact

The EHS Manager will be a member of the wider UK and Ireland EHS leadership team, ensuring all activities across 4 manufacturing sites in the UK and Ireland are carried out to protect the environment, health and safety of all employees, customers, contractors, visitors and the general public. The position holder will lead the EHS business plans for their sites, make improvement plans, collaborate with members of the respective sites management teams, ensuring thorough follow up on issues and ensure all stakeholders are informed. The position holder will also manage a small team of EHS professionals and report to the EHS Country Lead for UK and Ireland.

Key Accountabilities

  • In close co-operation with the EHS Country Lead (UK & Ireland), execute the action plan for EHS improvement, providing information to internal and external stakeholders  
  • Ensure the implementation and maintenance of all UK & Ireland legal requirements and Cargill policies and processes related to EHS
  • Lead and promote a culture of good EHS practice and behaviors 
  • Provide leadership and support for common EHS issues and concerns 
  • Identify trends, isolate root causes and support processes to ensure follow up actions are taken in a timely manner 
  • In the event of an accident / incident, Lead, support and facilitate investigations using techniques such as Root Cause Analysis and 5Why’s 
  • Compile information and data from the EHS systems and ensure this is accurate and relevant
  • Implement a data driven approach with the team and the sites to ensure effective management of reporting, action planning and action close out
  • Lead key corporate EHS work programs and initiatives to ensure effective implementation at site level in order to achieve continual improvements    
  • Maintain an effective EHS management and SharePoint system 
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications 

  • A Bachelor’s / Master’s degree in EHS Management or a demonstrated practical EHS experience in place of a degree 


Preferred qualifications 

  • IOSH Managing Safely or NEBOSH General Certificate is highly desirable 
  • Demonstrated experience in production (Food, Chemicals / Ingredients), manufacturing or industrial environments applying EHS knowledge and skills  
  • Awareness of the application of EHS legal requirements in the UK & Ireland
  • Behavioral Based Safety experience 
  • Formal Risk Assessments and Accident / Investigation reporting experience and understanding of how to conduct a formal Root Cause Analysis 
  • The ability to solve problems and make decisions in a timely manner 
  • A motivated and enthusiastic team player, able to train and engage colleagues on EHS topics
