Job Purpose and Impact

The Land Resources Specialist III will partner with the Land Resources Manager to manage Cargill’s properties in the San Francisco Bay Area so that Cargill can continue its solar sea salt production and achieve other objectives for non-operational properties in compliance with regional, state, and federal laws. In this role, you will develop and implement strategies and execution plans to obtain and retain necessary entitlements to protect existing rights and enhance the value of these Bay Area properties. The individual in this role will use their insight into the local public policy environment to build relationships with regulators and key stakeholders to enhance the organization’s overall reputation and promote at a regional, state, and national level, the environmental stewardship and habitat value of Cargill’s land holdings.

Key Accountabilities

    • Develop and implement strategies for various properties in partnership with government agencies to resolve land regulatory issues, including operational and environmental compliance issues
    • Collaboratively partner with key internal and external stakeholders to implement land management strategies, work products and cross-functional projects
    • Partner with other company professionals and external consultants to analyze, interpret and apply environmental and land use laws to ensure compliance
    • Apply in-depth understanding of relevant laws and Bay Area policies to identify strategic opportunities with the company’s properties
    • Lead the administration of real property management and documentation for access agreements, licenses, leases, easements, and maintenance work
    • Guide the team on all aspects of managing real property, land resources, and environmental permitting, reviewing technical and planning studies, and regulatory submittals
    • Represent the company in public advisory groups, business organizations and committees
    • Independently handle complex issues with minimal supervision, while escalating only the most complex issues to appropriate staff

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent experience
  • Working knowledge of major state, regional and federal environmental statutes, regulations and policies including California Environmental Quality Act
  • Minimum of four years of related work experience
  • Other minimum qualifications may apply

Preferred Qualifications

  • Eight years of related work experience

  • Advanced degree in environmental engineering and design, environmental modeling, or land-use planning

  • Work in the Bay Area on environmental matters related to land management

  • Work related to permitting involving the following agencies: U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, San Francisco Regional Water Control Board, San Francisco Bay Conservation and Development Commission, California Department of Fish and Wildlife

  • Work in the Bay Area on real estate or land use matters
