Job Purpose and Impact

The Automation, Electrical & Instrumentation Engineer (AEI) II will apply technical knowledge to design, develop and maintain overall governance on standards, application, gaps, solutions and measurements to increase production quality, efficiency and volume for the business. In this role, you will perform day to day activities related to electrical, instrumentation and automation engineering to enable projects and improve our capabilities by providing engineering support for the organization.

Key Accountabilities

  • Apply general knowledge of principles, terms, and practices of electrical, instrumentation and automation engineering to support the design, build and maintain of safe and reliable operations.

  • Develop, maintain and apply consistent AEI maintenance and reliability best practices (i.e. safety programs, LOTO, routine safety audits, PM’s, PdM’s, Inspections, trainings, RCM methodology and FMEA to determine optimum defect elimination strategies)

  • Execute and support electrical, instrumentation and automation engineering standards and deliverables in capital projects.

  • Monitor and support progress for plant IT projects with low to medium levels of complexity and ensure appropriate resource allocations and portfolio prioritization.

  • Identify opportunities and bridge electrical, instrumentation and automation engineering gaps in applications by establishing auditing control mechanisms.

  • Support, analyze and develop conclusions regarding areas of improvement and identify opportunities to improve performance and determine acceptable risk tolerance.

  • Independently solve moderately complex issues with minimal supervision, while escalating more complex issues to appropriate staff.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent experience

  • Minimum of two years of related work experience

Preferred Qualifications

  • Demonstrated proficiency in at least two disciplines of AEI (Automation, Electrical, Instrumentation)

  • Electrical Experience (e.g. 12 KV distribution switchgear, transformers, breaker,s motor control, UPS)

  • Knowledge of a variety of control systems including Distributed Control Systems (DCS), Programmable Logic Controller (PLC), and Human Machine Interface (HMI) systems

  • Certified Automation Professional (CAP) Certification through Instrument Society of America (ISA)

  • Ability to read and update electrical schematics, loop diagrams and process control narrative

  • Process Instrumentation experience: Pressure, Level Flow, Temperture, pH, O2, Smart Instruments

  • Knowledge of root cause analysis, reliability centered maintenance, planning and scheduling

  • Knoweledge of predictive technologies (MCE, vibration, infrared, ultrasound, machinery lubrication

  • Experience with Salt equipment and processes

  • Basic understanding of National Electric Code (NEC), NFPA 70E, IEC standards and ISA standards.

  • Lean six sigma

  • Experience with projects including safety, quality productivity and cost

  • Project management and process safety management experience
