Job Purpose and Impact

We seek a Global raw materials analyst (iron ore, plus metallics and coke) who will own the global raw materials view,  retrieve, analyze and summarize data to develop supply and demand models , optimize effectiveness and predict business outcomes. In this role you will gather, analyze and interpret marketplace trends and data to help trading strategies.

This position can be based out of either Cargill's London or Dubai locations. 

Key Accountabilities

  • Work with local traders daily, and global trading desk heads weekly, on strategic direction by advocating for trading positions, using analytic data.
  • Conduct analysis requiring a deep understanding of the commodities or markets.
  • Conduct most complex market or crop research using traditional and nontraditional data sources.
  • Work closely with traders to develop commercial insight frameworks and feed in to market forecast. 
  • Monitor market conditions, trends and competitors to project demand and inform product launch timing.
  • Independently handle complex issues with minimal supervision, while escalating only the most complex issues to appropriate staff.
  • Other duties as assigned


Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent experience
  • Confirmed related work experience

Preferred Qualifications

  • Ex-China ferrous or base metals industry knowledge strongly preferred
  • Systems thinker, preferably with cross-commodity experience who can map out complex supply chain impact
  • Demonstrated ability to work across teams or functions
  • Demonstrated data skills (advanced excel skills, SQL knowledge a plus)
  • Experience with a trading house or steel mill would be an advantage
