Job Purpose and Impact

  • Cargill Bioindustrial is a complex and growing business focused on chemical and personal care specialty products. The current growth in EMEA creates a need for an additional resource in Europe coming from the chemical and personal care industry, familiar with REACH requirements and chemical/personal care regulation.
  • In addition, this new hire will also support the French law team at 50% of his/her time on contracting activities, litigation, data privacy and compliance .

The Lawyer will independently handle legal affairs for a business, with minimal oversight from senior lawyers. We seek a professional who will provide legal advice and recommend action to executives and management regarding intermediate to more complex matters or a sizable financial impact. 

The new employee will need to partner with various commercial lawyers and  business colleagues in France and in EMEA in order to be effective. Her or his focus should be able to manage the complexities of the Cargill matrix (groups, functions, reporting lines, countries). An agile and collaborative mindset, a can-do attitude, a learning mindset are therefore all critical capabilities needed for the new employee’s success.     

Key Accountabilities

  • Perform legal research and analysis for day to day legal work.
  • Analyze issues to identify legal problems and preparing memoranda and initial drafts of legal documents.
  • Ensure that contracts comply with legal, regulatory and organization policies.
  • Assess commercial risk of contracts and prepare regulatory filings, forms and applications for routine matters.
  • Independently handle complex issues with minimal supervision, while escalating only the most complex issues to appropriate staff.
  • Support the French team in the compliance arena and deal with occasional French contracting activity and data privacy, whilst supervising the French corporate secretary work done by our legal assistant
  • Provide expert thought leadership in your field and work with limited direction, using additional research and interpretation to identify issues or problems. You may provide direction to supporting team members and be a strategic contributor.
  • Other duties as assigned


Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent experience
  • Minimum of four years of related work experience

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in French law
  • Minimum of five years of related work experience within the chemical and/or personal care industry.
