Job Purpose and Impact

The Regional Business Development Manager is the key responsible person for new business development matters related to business strategic growth market category of specialty Chemicals.  Builds market position by locating, developing, and meeting growth goals.  This role will hold SEA Distributors & Malaysia Account Management responsibilities including sales, marketing, and technical support.

Key Accountabilities

  • Translate customer needs into business strategy to capture commercial sales.
  • Recognize and pursue new market segments and opportunities for business development, calculating return and investment.
  • Monitor market development activities to align with company business goals and ensures that sourcing, sales and marketing strategies and tactics utilized by the business are effectively aligned with regional marketplace practices.
  • Prioritize market segment development activities and set revenue targets.
  • Execute sourcing and sales transactions through the portfolio pipeline by negotiating contracts, handle pricing orders from sellers and buyers, follow up on shipment, handle shipping documents and confirming payment.
  • Lead the sourcing, sales and sales marketing process with detailed deliverables of an action plan and recommend adaptions and changes to the strategy as appropriate.
  • Independently handle complex issues with minimal supervision, while escalating only the most complex issues to appropriate staff.
  • Other duties as assigned


Minimum Qualifications

  • Degree in Chemistry, Food Sciences or Food Technology with strongly developed commercial skills or, with strong affinity for technical applications or with background in industry business.
  • 10+ years’ experience in combined Commercial, Technical, Marketing and Management experience.
  • Ability to build long-lasting business-to-business relationships within organizations (both internally and externally).
  • Customer Focused with high level of urgency and proven ability to successfully resolve conflicts, service and performance issues.
  • Demonstrated collaboration, communication, and leadership skills.
  • Understanding of ingredient applications: ability to recognize/understand, properly communicate and follow up new trends in the ingredients and final products market.
  • Fluent and capable to communicate in English, both written and oral

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience and knowledge in technical and commercial aspects of Food Ingredients
  • 10+ years – Commercial experience in Food Ingredients Industry.  
  • Familiar with the applications of food stabilizers, emulsifier, and health benefits.
  • Familiar with all the Malaysia food manufacturers
  • Good in distributors managements.
