Description

This is a full-time position located in High River, Alberta. Please note you may receive calls from a 204 area code if you are considered for the position

Note: This position does not provide any type of relocation assistance. 

Main Duties:
  • Cut, trim, and otherwise prepare standard cuts of meat for sale at self-serve counters or according to customers' orders
  • Grind meats and slice cooked meats using powered grinders and slicing machines
  • Prepare special displays of meat
  • Shape, lace and tie roasts and other meats, may wrap prepared meats.
  • Manage inventory, keep records of sales and determine amount, product line and freshness of products according to company and customer requirements
  • Ensure food storage conditions are adequate
  • May supervise other butchers, meat cutters.
Wages are based in our Collective Bargaining Agreement
Skilled candidate with one year work experience in meat processing will start at $21.25/hour and up to $23.50/hour depending on job rate level.
Benefits are based in our Collective Bargaining Agreement.
Prescription medication, Disability, Medical, Dental, and Vision care benefits will commence after three months of employment.
Employment requirements
  • Completion of secondary school may be required.    
  • Completion of a college or other meat or a three-year meat cutting apprenticeship may be required
  • On-the-job training is provided for industrial butchers, meat cutters.

  • Basic English communication skills
  • Able to work in a fast paced environment
  • Must pass company Medical Examination
  • Must pass Criminal Background Check
  • Legally entitled to work for Cargill in Canada
