Job Purpose and Impact

The Environmental, Health and Safety Assistant I, will provide support with environmental, health and safety compliance and will be responsible for administrative support. In this role, you will assist in developing, implementing and maintaining processes and programs built to assure compliance with existing federal, state and local health and safety regulations and requirements at sites with environmentally regulated technologies or highly hazardous processes, low to medium risk of serious injuries and fatality.

Key Accountabilities

  • Provide support in updating environment health and safety program and process documentation in alignment with global programs, incorporating clearly defined instructions and edits provided by more senior team members.
  • Help team handle action plans by assisting in identifying potential emergency situations, assist in creating emergency communication plan, support testing plans and validating the emergency action plans.
  • Provide assistance in system support activities to document issues, risks, training and action plans.
  • Under supervision conduct incident investigation based on incident classification and liaise with engineers, management, and health and safety regulatory authorities and support in identifying causes of accidents and prevent their recurrence.
  • Support the review of environmental health and safety hazard, risk and opportunities on an ongoing and proactive basis and ensure the follow up actions are being implemented.
  • Handle basic clerical, administrative, technical or customer support issues under direct supervision, while escalating more complex issues to appropriate staff.
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • High school diploma, secondary education level or equivalent
  • Solid working knowledge of environment, health and safety practices
