Oils and fats are mainly produced for the food industry at this location. Our factory boasts a broad product range, consisting of a wide variety of vegetable oils, such as rapeseed, sunflower, and high-oleic sunflower oil, as well as diverse tropical fats, such as palm oil, various palm oil fractions, coconut oil, and palm kernel oil. These products are modified in state-of-the-art production processes and delivered just in time as per customer requirements

Job Purpose and Impact

The Automation Engineer will apply technical knowledge to design, develop and maintain overall governance on standards, application, gaps, solutions and measurements to increase production quality, efficiency and volume for the business. In this role, you will perform day to day activities related to instrumentation and automation engineering to enable projects and improve our capabilities by providing engineering support for the organization.

Key Accountabilities

  • Apply general knowledge of principles and practices of instrumentation and automation engineering to support the design and build of safe and reliable operations.
  • Execute and support instrumentation and automation engineering standards and deliverables in capital projects.
  • Monitor and support progress for projects and ensure appropriate resource allocations and prioritization.
  • Implement, monitor and track control mechanisms within area of scope to track performance and provide actionable solutions that contribute to improvements.
  • Support team members to assess instrumentation and automation engineering development and application opportunities and further dissemination across common practice areas.
  • Support, analyze and develop conclusions regarding areas of improvement and identify opportunities to improve performance and determine acceptable risk tolerance.
  • Develop functional descriptions and transfer to software solutions for PLC and automation systems
  • Planning, configuration, development and programming of process control in PCS7, S7, WinCC
  • Failure analysis and troubleshooting of process malfunctions
  • Assisting in testing (FAT) and commissioning of automation projects


  • Bachelor or Master degree in Automation, Electricity, Electro mechanics or Computer Science, or you have acquired the equivalent level of knowledge through experience
  • Intermediate project management skills
  • Strong technical and mathematical skills
  • Strong interest in programming and automation
  • Demonstrated working knowledge of technical standards, principles, theories, concepts and techniques
  • Good knowledge of Simatic S7, PCS7, WinCC, field bus systems, MES and SCADA technologies
  • Practical experience in writing and maintaining Functional Design Specifications and tuning of PID control loops
  • Fluent in German and English, or readiness to learn German
