Job Purpose and Impact

LOCATION: Manchester (M17 1PA)

Cargill’s Manchester plant is a production facility at the hub of the UK food, spirit, pharmaceutical, chemical and cosmetics industries. The plant and offices located in Manchester are part of Cargill’s starches and sweeteners business which produces sweeteners, wheat protein and alcohol for customers in the confectionery, brewing, drink, dairy, farming and bakery sectors.

The FSQR Specialist Quality Assurance and Customer Support ,  supports and implements processes and procedures meant to improve food safety and quality throughout the organization while providing the main focal point for customer-related issues at the location. In this role, you will partner with other teams to identify and mitigate quality risks. You will work with senior staff to address customer requirements and concerns, as well as collaborate on audits.

Key Accountabilities

•    Management of customer relations at site level for food safety and quality issues – complaints, samples and relevant information
•    Support the existing internal food safety and quality processes such as auditing and document management to ensure compliance with formal external and internal quality standards.
•    Conduct root cause analysis for customer complaints or other quality failures and manage the corrective and preventive action plans
•    Partner with cross-functional teams, to uncover and avoid quality risks using data and information from various sources
•    Provide training, coaching, and mentoring to other team members


•    Bachelors/ Master’s degree in a quality assurance / food safety / science based subject or proven practical experience 
•    Demonstrated experience working in food safety/ quality assurance, in a food/ drinks, animal feed or chemicals manufacturing environment 
•    Strong knowledge of food safety and quality assurance 
•    A solution-orientated working style (analytical, problem solving and decision making)
•    Demonstrated experience of conducting root cause analysis
•    Ability to work in a practical, hands-on environment that is part of a busy production facility 
•    Numerate and PC literate at intermediate level or above with Microsoft Office
•    Ability to work in a cross-functional environment to achieve results
•    Excellent timekeeping skills
