Job Purpose and Impact

Job location: Manchester, UK  (M17 1PA)

Cargill’s Manchester plant is a production facility at the hub of the UK food, spirit, pharmaceutical, chemical and cosmetics industries. The plant and offices located in Manchester are part of the Cargill starches and sweeteners business which produces sweeteners, wheat protein and alcohol for customers in the confectionery, brewing, drink, dairy, farming and bakery sectors.

This position is a key member of the Manchester site  Engineering team with responsibilities of coordinating all activities related to the implementation, maintenance and operation of plant control systems and their respective business processes, as well as delivering value add initiatives in the Manufacturing Operations Management (MOM) /Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES) and Manufacturing Excellence domains. Acting as the liaison between local and regional functions such as IT, Engineering, Maintenance, Manufacturing Technology, Production, EH&S and Quality. 

The position is a days based, permanent position Monday-Friday. 

Key Accountabilities

•    Coordinating all plant systems and MOM/MES related activities on site
•    Serving as the go to person with stakeholders, site departments, regional teams and external service providers for project intake and execution, outage planning, upgrades and troubleshooting
•    Identifying process improvement opportunities and delivering solutions that aid in the digitalization of the facility
•    Creating and executing the site and company’s Master Plans and Industry 4.0 roadmaps
•    Aligning with regional Plant Systems / MOM team to drive standardization relating to Plant Systems, MOM and business processes
•    Supporting in the definition of business requirements for plant system and MOM initiatives
•    Participating in Management of Change (MOC) and Portfolio Review Team (PRT) meetings to ensure that changes and projects are implemented in line with best practices
•    Coordinating and delivering training on new tools and solutions to teams at the Manchester site
•    Supporting capital projects that require plant systems and MOM expertise

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications


•    Bachelor’s Degree in Chemical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Automation or another relevant discipline 
•    Practical experience in Engineering, Production, Process Control and/or MES domain within a manufacturing environment preferably in the food industry - other industries considered
•    Demonstrated ability to influence others and work with multifunctional teams and personnel 
•    Ability to manage multiple initiatives, projects goals and objectives 

Preferred Qualifications

•    Formal Continuous Improvement experience / training i.e. Lean Six Sigma 
•    Knowledge of plant wireless technologies
