Job Purpose and Impact
Job location: Manchester, UK (M17 1PA)
Cargill’s Manchester plant is a production facility at the hub of the UK food, spirit, pharmaceutical, chemical and cosmetics industries. The plant and offices located in Manchester are part of the Cargill starches and sweeteners business which produces sweeteners, wheat protein and alcohol for customers in the confectionery, brewing, drink, dairy, farming and bakery sectors.
The Natural Resources Process Development Engineer will be responsible for reducing the environmental footprint of the Manchester facilities concentrating on energy, water and waste reduction. This will be achieved through optimizing current systems, practices and operations.
The role will provide the opportunity to become a technical expert on the site and transform this knowledge into business advantage. The position holder will closely collaborate with the process development group and engineering peers to deliver continuous improvement and capital projects to reduce energy and water consumption.

Key Accountabilities
• Responsible for generating the site annual energy budget, analysing and reporting monthly variances
• On a day-to-day basis responsible for ensuring the optimum energy production capacity and efficiency by advising and training the operational divisions
• Training operators in the most efficient use of energy and water
• Responsible for indicating and supporting any energy subsidy initiatives and energy improvement projects
• Monitoring, reporting, maintaining and developing the energy KPI system
• Support the development, implementation and auditing of departmental reliability and follow up on process related improvement for our Natural Resources
• Ensure compliance and corrective actions resulting from internal and external safety and environmental audits including UK-ETS, CHPQA, ISO:500001 and climate change
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
• Bachelor’s Degree in Chemical Engineering, Food Science or any relevant Science/ Engineering discipline
• Proven experience in Engineering / Production Management experience within a manufacturing environment
• Demonstrated ability to influence others and work with multifunctional teams and personnel
• Ability to manage multiple initiatives, projects goals and objectives
Preferred Qualifications
• Formal Continuous Improvement experience / Kaizen training
