Job Purpose and Impact

The Quality Control Chemist, will ensure products meet or exceed customer requirements for quality and product safety by conducting chemical analysis and experiments. In this role, you will apply basic understanding and technical expertise of plant processes to ensure that the assigned products meet and exceed customer requirements, related to quality and safety within multiple areas of the organization, including product safety, process and data management, quality systems, analytics and instrumentation. 

Key Accountabilities

  • Assure manufactured batches meet compliance and quality specifications and final release.
  • Data collection, analysis and documentation, trend identification, troubleshooting, corrective action and communication to ensure products meet customer requirements, quality standards and/or regulatory/ statutory requirements.
  • Assess process quality parameters and product safety and quality systems daily, including cross checks, raw materials, calibration, maintenance, procedures, product safety, training, auditing and oversight of analytical testing performed in control rooms.
  • Training and work with product safety and quality chemists, analysts, operators, technicians and personnel from other functional areas to build, maintain and improve an effective product safety, quality and regulatory culture.
  • Handle basic issues and problems under direct supervision, while escalating more complex issues to appropriate staff.
  • Other duties as assigned.


Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent experience.
  • Able and willing to work night shift (12-hour shift with every other weekend off) and holidays.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Basic knowledge of (product safety/ industrial) industry practices and standards.
  • Scientific and mathematical knowledge.
  • SAP, HPLC, GPC, Viscometer, Microsoft Office Applications experience.


Position Information

  • Relocation assistance will not be provided for this position.
  • This is an on-site job in Chicago, IL.
  • The work schedule is: 7pm-7am (3 or 4 days per week with every other weekend off + holidays).
