Job Purpose and Impact

The Manufacturing Technology Biochemical Advisor will provide technical leadership of our aligned processes, standards, and governance as well as deep subject matter expertise in the Biochemical Manufacturing Technology with an emphasis on Fermentation in the Americas region. In this role, you will provide technical subject matter expertise for manufacturing technology design standards, process capabilities, process scale up, hazard analysis, performance monitoring, technical training, and incremental and significant improvements. This role will support the plants and optimize the performance of existing assets by partnering with the manufacturing excellence team and other functions.

Key Accountabilities

  • Provide leadership to analyze plant performance metrics for a specific manufacturing technology and identify gaps in standards, metrics and measurements and implements improvements into the processes.

  • Provide manufacturing technology expertise to plants, working with local teams, manufacturing technology strategy and governance teams, other subject matter experts, external experts, and technical support to identify and resolve root causes to emerging issues.

  • Independently handle complex issues with minimal supervision, while escalating only the most complex issues to appropriate staff.

  • Responsible for deployment of risk management practices and safeguards within a specific manufacturing technology, understanding safety, process safety, food safety, regulatory and environmental standards, policies and codes.

  • Assess and develop complex business case scenarios and technology alternatives including technical leadership for new product and process design to meet business strategy and identify improvement opportunities.

  • Provide expert thought leadership in your field and work with limited direction, using additional research and interpretation to identify issues or problems. You may provide direction to supporting team members and be a strategic contributor.

  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field or equivalent experience

  • Minimum of six years of related work experience

  • Ability to travel 25%

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Six Sigma Black Belt Certification

  • 10 or more years of related work experience in fermentation operations, process engineering or fermentation development
