Job Purpose and Impact

The Cargill Starches, Sweeteners and Texturizers North America (SSTNA) Regional Process Control Lead will provide broad and in-depth knowledge to provide technical leadership and consult on activities related to Process Control to enable the CSSTNA business strategy. This role will supervise a regional team of Process Control Engineers to meet business needs. You will provide input into design, development and implementation of Process Control strategies, Technology and Lifecycle Strategy and Roadmap supporting Autonomous Operations Maturity Targets set by Site and Manufacturing Technology. Therefore, in this role you will facilitate as-is analysis and target setting, identify gaps, and contribute to definition of gap closing solutions. You will advise and contribute as principal SME to regional governance on standards, application, gaps, solutions, and measurements to effectively improve KPIs for the business simplify the way we work and deliver to our customers in close corporation with the group. You keep up to date of industry trends and innovations.

Key Accountabilities

  • Contribute to regional Process Control governance for CSSTNA to ensure consistent compliance of process control design standards, policies, procedures and job aids with regulatory standards and alignment with global, group, regional and industry standards.

  • Benchmark metrics and reporting mechanisms to ensure effective utilization and integrity of technology/solutions specific to Process Control to meet business needs. ​

  • Perform localization of standards in region and provide practical insights and feedback for the improvement of standards.

  • Partner collaboratively to support and promote Process Control engineering programs and policies regionally.

  • Support consolidating overall analysis, proposing recommendations in areas of improvement and implement solutions to improve performance and identify acceptable risk tolerance.

  • Provide process control engineering support required for normal operations,

  • Oversee advanced support for process control engineering deliverables, lead controllability assessment and design reviews in capital projects, coach and develop process control engineering talent.

  • Provide expert thought leadership in your field and work with limited direction, using additional research and interpretation to identify issues or problems. You may provide direction to supporting team members and be a strategic contributor.

  • Other duties as assigned


Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field with equivalent experience
  • Extensive experience (10+ years) with hands-on definition and implementation of basic controls (PID control) and Advanced Process Control including Model Predictive Control (MPC)
  • Strong knowledge of process engineering fundamentals and process unit operations
  • Strong data analysis skills, including dynamic and multivariate aspects of data  
  • Able to identify new opportunities, perform technical gap assessment and solution identification

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Control Engineering
  • Able to develop business cases and manage Process Control projects
  • Ability to work in a remote environment with virtual teams
  • Thorough understanding of common CSST processes, their operation and associated business value drivers
  • Experience in facilitation of Continuous Improvement such as Kaizen, Six Sigma or Lean processes Green/black belt 
  • Able to build relationships and apply influencing skills with a diverse array of both technical and non-technical people
  • Able to manage portfolio of process control projects across the region
  • Two years of supervisory experience
