Job Purpose and Impact

The Regional Operations Lead – Ocean Transportation will lead, advise and make decisions on all major Ocean Transportation activities for a team that covers shipment execution, client interaction, business and people partnerships, resource, budget and project management, data management, reporting and analysis. In this role you will also oversee the day to day operational split per vessel size, accountable for the productive and qualitative daily tasks execution in the area, as per the metrics and objectives set in the BU Business Plan across the region.

Key Accountabilities

  • Lead performance across various aspects of internal and external customer interactions including cost, budget, safety requirements, incident tracking and problem resolution.
  • Responsible to lead the digitalization of various business processes, driving efficiencies and reducing operating costs.
  • Responsible to lead decarbonization strategy, reducing vessels fuel consumption and optimizing vessels routing.
  • Coaching & mentoring the team, Oversee the skills acquisition process and recommends required trainings.
  • Lead and develop a team, coach and make decisions related to talent management, hiring, performance, and disciplinary actions.
  • Accountable for a close and harmonious working relationship with the other operational functions, Marine Operations Coordinators, Claims as well as management.
  • Accountable for effective knowledge sharing process and compliance with standard operations discussions and consistent processes and coordination with the other Vessel Operating Remote locations.
  • Ensure and provides regular feedback on the collaboration and consistency of the VO, AO & FO processes to Global Execution Lead. Provides inputs and ideas for continuous improvements in the area.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

  • Master degree in Maritime studies or equivalent degree
  • Analytical skills and ability to understand business practices and recommend proper automation opportunities
  • Ability to handle multiple priorities and achieve results within determined timeframes

Preferred Qualifications

  • 10+ years of shipping industry experience
  • Managing  a team of 30+ or 4-5 years of Supervisor/ Team lead experience in Vessel Operations.
  • Experienced in latest maritime digital platforms and tools
  • Able to work effective solutions to dynamic marine operations while maintain a high level of customer service
  • Leadership and people management skills like (Conflict management, Problem solving)
  • Must be able to effectively deal with Ambiguity and work an issue to a solution
  • Must possess the Emotional Intelligence to remain open and Approachable towards new ideas /concepts
  • Possesses the drive for Continuous improvement of self and others
  • Managing Diversity  both in and out of the workplace
