Job Purpose and Impact

We are currently looking for a Site Leading Hand at our bulk grain storage and handling site located in Beanbri. You will be responsible for supporting site operations, leading permanent and harvest operations staff; with a focus on safety, operational efficiency, team training and driving key performance standards.

Relocation support can be considered for suitable candidates.

Key Accountabilities

This is an extremely hands-on operational role where you will lead from the front, overseeing the site’s daily and weekly priorities, directly lead the onsite team to ensure they are trained and competent to perform duties. During harvest season you could be directly responsible for up to 20-30 casuals at any one time.

The team handle all areas of operation including but not limited to harvest receivals, grain classification, stack building, tarping, site hygiene, grain outturn including road and rail operations and general bunker operations.

Safety is the top priority at site, and you will be motivated to continue to enhance a strong safety culture whilst empowering your team to look for ways to improve site operations.

  • Proven general experience within the grain, bulk material handling or farming industries - preferred
  • Experience of leading teams with proactive & engaging communication (ideally in industry, alternatively in other sectors) 
  • Understanding of Health & Safety standards with a desire to promote a proactive safety culture
  • Ability to be hand’s on and take a practical approach, with capability to problem solve
  • Hold a current drivers licence
  • Pass a National Police Clearance and pre-employment medical assessment

Preferred Experience

  • Familiarity with plant operations, front end loaders, implements/attachments, tractors, bulk material conveying or small plant/hand tools (advantageous)

Whilst this is a salaried role, there will be the expectation that you will have a willingness to work extra/flexible hours when needed to meet customer requirements.
