Job Purpose and Impact

The Merchant III will oversee merchandising activities across our CASCNA Gibson City, IL, Gilman, IL, Milford, IN and Decatur, MI assets. Working in close coordination with our origination team to manage a supplier base, across producers and commercials, and fulfill transactions delivering commodities that meet production requirements and specifications in terms of timing, volume, quantity and cost. In this role, you will buy and sell commodities from and to country elevators, producers, feed mills and processors.

Key Accountabilities

  • Collaborate with origination, operations, logistics and rail traders to identify market opportunities and ensure efficient execution.
  • Originate, position and sell commodities across corn, soybeans and soft red winter wheat to regional customers to maximize gross commodity earnings.
  • Generate market, position and profit and loss reports based on data and specialty reports.
  • Research and analyze various freight opportunities in the marketplace to maximize margin.
  • Work directly with customers, suppliers and business counterparts to develop business solutions to meet their needs.
  • Independently handle complex issues with minimal supervision, while escalating only the most complex issues to appropriate staff.
  • Other duties as assigned.

    Qualifications

    Minimum Qualifications

    • Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent experience
    • Minimum of four years of related work experience

    Preferred Qualifications

    • Experience trading or merchandising in grain commodity markets.
    • Experience working in cross-functional teams.
    • Experience managing PnL, business planning, financial forecasting.
